The General Body meeting of Burusho Maʰraka, Gilgit-Baltistan held at a local hotel in Gilgit, with a large number of members in attendance. During the session, former interim president Advocate Muhammad Wazir Shafi was appointed as President for the coming year. Other appointments included Muhammad Ismail Tahseen as Vice President, Bulbul Jan Shams as General Secretary, Waheeduddin Khawaja as Finance Secretary, Ms. Naseema Kiani as Joint Secretary, Shah Raees Saifi as Press and Information Secretary, and Bahadur Ali as Public Relations Secretary.
New board members were also announced: Mujeebuddin, Nasreen Bano, Qasim Shah Sakhi, Bulbul Hussain, Muhammad Azim, Nadir Malang, Professor Mahboob Ali, Dr. Sadruddin Qatooshi, Professor Shahnaz, Shah Zahir Advocate, Ghulam Abbas Naseem, and Raza Abbas Tabish.
It was decided that a grand event will soon be held in Gilgit city, where researchers, poets, and literary figures of the Burushaski language—as well as government officials and other distinguished guests—will be invited. At this event, Burusho Maʰraka will launch its various technical models, tools, musical works, and literary publications.
To promote the agreed-upon standard writing system, the meeting called upon all Burusho speakers to submit any petitions or complaints—based on linguistic principles—to members of the editorial board: Dr. Muhammad Asi, Dr. Sabir Hopri, Javed Burushin, Dr. Muizuddin, Pyar Karim, or Zafar Iqbal. It was clarified that this is the final opportunity to formally raise objections regarding the current script. After this, no publications will be permitted in any writing style other than the officially agreed-upon Burushaski script.
For curriculum development, a committee was formed under the leadership of Professor Mahboob, including members of the current editorial board as well as Bahadur Ali, Professor Sadruddin Qatooshi, Muhibuddin, Bulbul Hussain, Qasim Shah Sakhi, and Aeen Shah. This committee will undertake practical work on Burushaski curriculum design.
